why-series-graphicWe are convinced that Jesus The Son of God came to earth as a real Person about 2,000 years ago and that He possessed both the nature and substance of God as well as full humanity. His mission on earth was to undo the sin of Adam, “reconcile the world to God,” (2 Cor 5:17-21) and restore our connection to God. He accomplished this by smashing the things which blocked man’s way to God—He defeated Satan, sin and death. (Read the whole story about His exciting life in the following sections of the Bible- Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, s) In His death on the cross, He took upon Himself all the sin of all mankind, thereby paying ransom for our sins, allowing us to be freed from the penalty, the power and the shame of sin. (Matt. 20:28, 1 Peter 2:24-25, Isaiah 53:3-7, s) WE ARE CONVINCED THE GREATEST NEWS IN THE WORLD IS “THAT GOD SENT HIS SON INTO THE WORLD, NOT TO CONDEMN THE WORLD, BUT THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED”; and “THAT GOD LOVED THE WORLD SO MUCH THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVR BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.” (John 3:16, 17, s) We are convinced by our own encounter with the mercy of God that He loves us despite the bad things we have done. He loves us when we feel hopeless, guilty, confused and ashamed. We are convinced Jesus has made it possible for every person in the whole world to be re-connected to God. Jesus Christ Himself said “… whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:15) Also He said, “…the one who comes to me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6:37b) Jesus’ apostle Paul said “…through one man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in… life.” (Romans 5:18) ; and “…the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:12-13) Those who fully surrender their lives to Jesus discover inner joy and peace—beyond human comprehension—replacing the guilt and shame they once had. Jesus’ Life inside people enables them to defeat Satan, sin and ultimately death itself.
